1.2.2 | Game Update
Hotfix | Version 1.2.2 | September 25th | 007 First Light

Dear 007 First Light community,
We’ve seen your reports on performance following the 007 First Light Path Tracing update and your questions about the PC specs we disclosed. Although 007 First Light is a detailed and graphically demanding game when running with path tracing, we’re confident that players should be able to have a good experience on supported cards when using the right mix of settings.
Because of this demanding workload, 007 First Light offers the full stack of NVIDIA DLSS features to help you find the right settings and balance between image quality and performance.
In addition to last week’s hotfix addressing some GPU hangs, we’re deploying another hotfix today, which contains further improvements to visuals and performance, as well as the user experience of enabling path tracing.
Today’s hotfix includes an option to enable recommended default settings to smooth out the experience, but if you want to go ahead and do it manually we are issuing clearer guidance on configuring your settings to best enjoy path tracing on supported RTX cards.
RECOMMENDED SETTINGS
Make sure your game and graphics drivers are up to date, then use these settings as a starting point:
- Options -> Graphics -> [R] Restore to defaults
- (Depending on your preferences and display, toggle Options -> Graphics -> VSync -> Off)
- (Depending on your preferences and display, toggle Options -> Graphics -> VSync -> Off)
- Select the Path Tracing mode that is recommended for your card:
- Medium for RTX 5070 and RTX 5080
- High for RTX 5090
- Set fullscreen resolution to the value recommended for your card when using path tracing:
- 1080p on RTX 5070
- 1440p on RTX 5080
- Up to 4K on RTX 5090
- Resolution scaling -> NVIDIA DLSS
- DLSS super resolution -> Auto (DLSS Auto - mode selects automatically the best upscaling ratio for your selected fullscreen resolution)
- DLSS super resolution -> Auto (DLSS Auto - mode selects automatically the best upscaling ratio for your selected fullscreen resolution)
- Enable DLSS Multi Frame Generation:
- Multi Frame Generation starts at 2X (one generated frame) up to 6X (5 generated frames), depending on your preferences
- Or if you prefer, you can enable Dynamic Multi Frame Generation which will dynamically adjust the multiplier to maintain a consistent FPS.
PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS
With the recommended settings, you should expect around 60fps on RTX 5070 at 1080p resolution and around 60 fps on RTX 5080 at 1440p resolution, depending on the mission and checkpoint.
When adding 2x DLSS Frame Generation and with DLSS Super Resolution on the Auto setting, you should be able to play consistently above 60fps across the game.
5090 cards should yield even better results and can achieve frame rates of 200+ FPS when running with 6x DLSS Frame Generation values. Additionally, Dynamic Multi Frame Generation will dynamically adjust the multiplier to maintain a consistent FPS.
PATH TRACING RECOMMENDATIONS
007 First Light currently offers both Medium and High quality settings. The High setting can produce more detailed images, thanks to using higher-quality shading and levels of detail in reflections, as well as a higher number of bounces. Because this improved accuracy is very resource-intensive, our current recommendation for the most balanced experience is to use the Medium setting unless using an RTX 5090 card.
Thank you for your passion and interest in high-end real-time rendering technology.
We look forward to your continued feedback as we bring further improvements and optimizations to path tracing in future updates to 007 First Light.
